As rare as hen's teeth

Getting a photo of Paul and I together is as rare as hen's teeth. We are always out and about with our cameras and take loads of photos, sometimes of each other, but mainly of buildings, landscapes etc but never of the two of us together. This one was taken yesterday when we had a touristy day out with RA. It's a little blurry and I'm a little concerned about the matching coloured outfits (honest we didn't plan that!) but it's not a bad photo of the two of us. Posted by Picasa

Where for art thou ...

... sunshine?

It has been raining for a week. It's summer next Wednesday and the average temperature at the moment is hovering around the ever-so-balmy 15 degree mark. Can you believe it? What am I, in England or something? Sheesh!

We braved the cold and the rain though last Sunday and hired a car and got out of the city for the first time since we arrived in London. We drove up to Oxford for breakfast and then onto Stratford-upon-Avon, which is Shakespeare country, for the rest of the day.

Despite the wind and the rain (there were lots of it) we had a really nice time.

I am forever astounded by the amount of history in England and Stratford-upon-Avon didn't disappoint. I was standing in a house that was built in the 1500s where William Shakespeare was born. Is that not mind-blowing or what?

Suffice to say, the sun showed it's weary head at around 5:30pm when we were due to start driving home. Posted by Picasa

Ode to mum

I can't remember the last mother's day that I spent with my mum. Although I'm always there in spirit, I have lived over 1000kms away from mum and dad for over seven years now which makes bringing mum breakfast in bed on mother's day pretty hard.

This mother's day - being over 11,000km away from my mum I thought I'd put some of my favourite photos of my mum together for all the world to see.

Mum, although you're far from me in kilometres, you're never far from my mind. You're the strongest and bravest person I know and always live life with such gusto. Thank you for showing me that, no matter what life throws at you ... at the end of the day, the sun will always be shining.

I miss you and love you very very much. Posted by Picasa
