A hard act to follow ...
This week was a week of excess for me I have to say. Monday was SG's birthday so MD got us a reservation at
The Ivy. I tell you, my head was craned for most of the evening trying to do some celeb spotting but unfortunately all we saw were a lot of silver-haired sugar daddys. The food and the service were stunning though, and although there was no Kate Moss or Jude Law on the menu, I think we all left there very pleased indeed.
On Thursday evening MS and I went to the fairly newly opened
High Road House in Chiswick. Soho House's sister establishment. It was stunning. The barman was one of those cute-flirty types (a younger looking Brad Pitt with a not so great haircut) who is really big on cheeky eye contact. One of those who winks at you and tells you that he'll make you a cocktail that you are guaranteed to like. Well he did, and I did. After pre-dinner drinks MS and I shared oysters, duck, pheasant and the most delicious dessert I've tasted in a long time, smashed chocolate cake with to-die-for caramel icecream.
Today, in complete contrast, I spent the entire day indoors in sweat pants and socks - studying. I have just started studying my
CIPD which is a UK HR qualification in Leadership & Management. My course materials arrived two weeks too late so I am panicking that I won't be able to catch up. I'm already disheartened, I spent hours studying today only to realise that I haven't even made it to the "
Getting Started" section of the very first workbook. Oh my lord ... I've got a lot to do!
Tomorrow is MS's birthday and we're off to another restaurant, this time in Clapham called
Scoffers. It's no Ivy or High Road House (my wallet thanks me I'm sure), but it has come highly recommended and I have no doubt that we will live up to it's name!
Oh, and ladies, I bought the cutest little houndstooth swing coat this week -
Next week ... head down, study and detox.
